Markham residents may deliver yard materials for composting to the Bloomington Compost Site free of charge for loads less than 1 cubic yard. Loads greater than 1 cubic yard will be charged $65.00 per tonne.

Acceptable Yard Waste for Drop-Off

YES, We Accept for drop-off:

• Leaves
• Grass clippings
• Shrubs
• Branches
• Weeds
• Pumpkins
• Flowers and garden plants
• Sod (in small quantities)
• Fruit and vegetables

Non-Acceptable Yard Waste

NO, We Do Not Accept for drop-off:

• Tree branches or brush larger than 6 inches in diameter or longer than 6 feet in length
• Tree stumps and root balls
• Driveway and road sweepings  
• Animal droppings
• Rocks, gravel and stones
• Dirt and topsoil
• Yard waste in plastic bags (must be emptied on site)
• Garbage or plastic
• Painted, stained or pressure treated wood

Cost

Loads are accepted in personal vehicles only. Trailers that are less than 1 cubic yard in size will be free. Trailers at more than 1 cubic yard (3'x3'x3') are charged $65.00 per tonne. People delivering yard materials in plastic bags and/or containers will be asked to empty them at the drop-off centre. Kraft paper yard waste bags do not have to be emptied.
