Between 1996 and 2016, it is projected that the older adult population in Markham (age 55+) will increase by 59,930. The older adult population is expected to increase from 28,970 in 1996 to 56,868 by 2006. Although demand for recreation and library services will grow for all age groups, the demand will be greatest from the older adult population.
The Town of Markham Recreation Services Department and Public Libraries have undertaken this feasibility study to strategically meet the growing needs of older adults living in all areas of Markham. The Town appreciates the contributions from the older adults who participated in this study.
