Come and Hear What's Happening in Markham on July 1

Markham, ON ~ Come and hear about the Markham Canada Day Celebrations at a community launch.

When: Tuesday June 19, 1:00 to 1:30 p.m.
Where: Great Hall, Markham Civic Centre
(101 Town Centre Blvd. – Highway 7 & Warden Ave.)
What: Details of Markham's July 1st Celebration – a day-long free program involving the community – everyone welcome
Program: Greetings from the Town - Mayor Frank Scarpitti
July 1st Highlights - Councillor Carolina Moretti
Special Performance - Qi & Yi Flag Dancers

Markham's July 1st celebrations include

  • a Citizenship Ceremony, where new Canadians are sworn in as residents of our country – 9:30 a.m. at the Civic Centre;
  • a seniors luncheon;
  • the People's Parade from Markville Shopping Centre to Milne Park at 4:00 p.m.;
  • free children's activities at Milne Park – 3:00 to 6:00 p.m.;
  • Flag Raising Ceremony at Milne Park at 4:30 p.m. and entertainment, food and displays from 5:00 p.m. to close.

Canada Day in Markham will end with a dazzling display of light, colour and sound with fireworks planned for dusk at 9:30 p.m. in the skies over Milne Park.

Milne Park is on the east side of McCowan Road, between Highways 7 and 407.  Parking is available at Markville Shopping Centre (Highway 7 and McCowan). Free shuttle buses will run from Markville to Milne Park from 2:30 to 3:45 p.m. and from 4:30 p.m. to midnight on Sunday, July 1. Main event sponsor is Bell. This Celebrate Markham event is funded by the Town of Markham.
