1. Standing Committees
- Development Services Committee (deals with development and economic issues)
- General Committee (deals with finance and administrative, community services and environment, and transportation issues)
2. Advisory Committees
The Town of Markham establishes local boards and committees from time to time to be responsible for and make recommendations to Council regarding certain public services.
Most committees include members of the public, as well as members of Council. Volunteering to serve on an advisory board or committee is one of the many ways residents can serve their community. All advisory committee meetings and board meetings are open to the public.
The Town of Markham seeks volunteers from the public for positions on boards and committees, and advertisements are periodically placed in the "Markham Page" of the local newspapers and on this website. Applications are available online, or from the Clerk's Department at the Markham Civic Centre, 101 Town Centre Blvd. (northwest corner of Hwy. 7 and Warden Ave.). Applications will be kept on file for one year from date received, and considered when vacancies occur.
The Town's Procedural Bylaw 2001-1 ( 74K/23p) has been enacted which provides direction on the conduct of meetings.
The following is a list of the major advisory boards and committees. Click the committee title for summaries of the terms of reference.
