New Street Parking Regulations To address the need for managing street parking and traffic flow, the Town of Markham is regulating street parking in key areas of town.

Q. Why is the Town introducing paid parking?
A. Paid street parking is being implemented to help manage traffic and parking problems in key areas of the Town. By regulating street parking and encouraging compliance with parking bylaws, key streets can be clear of cars during certain times of the day to improve traffic flow.

Q. Where are the new meters and what are the times when they will be in effect?
A. Paid parking will be in effect in September in the following areas:
- Allstate Parkway, 7 am to 4 pm and 6 pm to 9 pm, Monday to Friday
- Centurian Drive, 7 am to 9 pm, Monday to Friday
- Frontenac Drive, 7 am to 9 pm, Monday to Friday
- Acadia Avenue, 7 am to 9 pm, Monday to Sunday
- Ferrier Avenue, 7 am to 9 pm, Monday to Sunday
- Cox Boulevard, 7 am to 9 pm, Monday to Sunday
Parking restrictions are clearly displayed on street signs as well as the front of the green parking machines.

Q. How much is it going to cost me to park?
A. $1 per hour up to a maximum of $2. In some areas, the cost is $2 to park for the day.

Q. When is paid parking in effect?
A. The parking bylaw will be in force in early September 2005.
Q. How much is the fine for parking violations?
A. The fine is $20 for an expired meter and $40 for parking in a no parking zone.

Q. Will you be towing vehicles?
A. Vehicles that are parked illegally between 4 pm and 6 pm on Allstate Parkway may be tagged and towed.
Q. How do I pay my fine?
A. There are two ways to pay, in person or by mail:
In person: at the Civic Centre, 101 Town Centre Boulevard, between 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. The Cashier will accept cash, cheque or debit. At the moment we DO NOT accept credit cards for payment. After hours, there is a drop-off box at the Thornhill entrance for cheque payments (please do not enclose cash).
